Enterprise, Al, March 9, 2009 - The United States Chamber of Commerce recently awarded the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce with Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.

"Accreditation recognizes chambers for their high standards of practice, full accountability to members, and steadfast commitment to community," said
Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "We applaud these organizations for advancing these principles of free enterprise."

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take 3-6 months to complete.

"I am tremously proud of our staff, board, and volunteers who spent countless hours completing the Accreditation process", said Phil Thomas, President of the Enterprise Chamber. "I am also pleased that the U.S. Chamber noted our 13% increase in membership and our 97% member retention rate over the past three years", added Thomas.  The Enterprise Chamber also received a perfect score in the Facilities section of the application.

PRESTIGIOUS HONOR
St. Patrick's Day 2008 According to the U.S Chamber, the Enterprise Chamber was among only 17 chambers awarded with some level of accreditation.  This puts the Enterprise Chamber among the top 4% of chambers nationwide.

Only six other chambers in Alabama are currently accredited.  Enterprise is currently the only accredited chamber in Southeast Alabama.  The Enterprise Chamber of Commerce has been accredited for 28 consecutive years.
